長崎城（中山町長崎）の城主を務めたという。後世の軍記物である「最上記」によると７千石を領したという。長崎城は中山玄蕃朝正の居城であるとも伝わり、「最上記」には中山玄蕃７千石と長崎（永崎）式部７千石の両方が記載されている。
