楯岡満廣の嫡男。伯父である楯岡満茂の三女を娶り、満茂の養子となる。最上家の改易に際しては、一族ともに前橋藩酒井家に移る。後に満茂の跡を継ぐが急死してしまい、隠居していた満茂が当主に復帰した。
